Who are we?
Investkredit International Bank plc was set up in 1996 as a fully owned
subsidiary of
Investkredit Bank AG, Vienna, Austria. We are based in Sliema,
Malta.
The bank is licensed to offer all financial services exclusively to non-Malta
resident corporate customers in all currencies except Maltese Lira. Our main
area of marketing is Austrian Corporates.
Our principle objective since inception of the bank has been growth of our
Balance Sheet. Our ‘Own Funds’ have increased substantially by further
injections of Capital. At the end of 2001 the bank restructured its Capital
Base and issued Preference Shares to leading Austrian Corporates.
The core business of Investkredit Malta is medium- and long-term enterprise
financing. Another of the Bank’s main line of business is deposit taking from
corporate customers on various terms at favourable interest rates. We are also
active in the Asset Backed Securities market where we hold a varied portfolio
in both USD and Euro.
The Bank is also active in the issue of named and/or bearer bonds either at
fixed or variable rates of interest which are quoted on the Vienna Secondary
Stock Exchange.
Why Malta?
The main attractions for our parent company to set up a bank in Malta were the
stable political environment, the financial legislation which is in place, the
fiscal incentives, an effective double tax treaty with Austria.
Malta has always held a strategic position in the Mediterranean because of our
location between Europe and North Africa. Its location and economic orientation
make it ideal as an international financial services and trading centre.
